LEARNING HINDI

A language to learn. A connection to keep.

Discover the language, creativity and community at the heart of our school.

Little steps. Meaningful progress.

Words that open up a world.

Reading, writing, listening and speaking bring Hindi into everyday life. From recognising letters to sharing a conversation, every connection starts somewhere.

  • Discover the sounds and script of Hindi
  • Build vocabulary through stories and conversation
  • Develop reading, writing and speaking confidence
Find their starting point

Tell the school about your child’s experience in your application. New students are assessed on reading, writing, speaking and understanding, then placed in one of seven levels.

WHAT A CLASS LOOKS LIKE

A typical two-hour class.

Each session blends teaching, hands-on practice, writing, listening and speaking, and ends with language in action through song, dance, drama and music.

  1.  15 minGroup teaching

Face-to-face group teaching, usually starting with letter recognition and reading. Can include watching or listening to songs to build reading skills.

  2.  15 minHands-on activity

Games and hands-on activities, such as physically arranging letter cards, to help students learn letters and reading.

  3.  20 minWriting

Students complete worksheets matched to their level, with reading and writing assessed together.

  4.  30 minListening and speaking

Hindi videos, animations, news and documentaries, with reading, writing and speaking practice built in.

  5.  10 minSupervised break

A short break supervised by teachers.

  6.  30 minLanguage in action

Bollywood and folk song, dance, drama, music and other activities chosen by the students.

About 120 minutes in total. Based on the class structure published by the school; the current format for each branch and level is confirmed at enrolment.

HOW CLASSES ARE ORGANISED

Levels

A maximum of 20 students per class.
New to Hindi
Children from non-Hindi-speaking families learn in separate classes with extra attention to listening and speaking.
How we teach
